Young Seed Blooms

Taking Learning to New Heights

Learning During the Lockdown

We reduced our tuition fees because parents will share teaching tasks with the teachers—tasks that require time and effort, but are truly worth doing for your child's learning and development. This school year, 70% of our school fees go to our teachers and staff and 30% to technology tools and subscriptions, worksheets and/or workbooks, and school upkeep.

🌻 Parents have a supportive role.

Parents help their children by operating technology, ensuring materials are ready for use, monitoring participation and task completion, and sending work back to the teacher.

🌻 Teachers design lessons & ensure student learning.

Teachers design the learning periods and resources, hold classes according to the school’s curriculum, and undertake periodic assessment of students’ progress. Additionally, teachers communicate with parents to increase and sustain student engagement in the activities, as well as share tips (if needed).

🌻 Students learn by doing.

Preschool students will still engage in hands-on learning, as well as the use of all their senses through various learning activities that are delivered to class using a combination of paper, technology, and other concrete resources.

FAQs

Homeschooling vs. E-learning: what’s the difference?

With homeschool programs, parents are the teachers. And as such, they undertake training and purchase lesson modules that could either be downloaded or picked up.

With e-learning, teachers explain the lessons, show how activities are done, motivate children to participate, give rewards and feedback, and assess learning.

Young Seeds Bloom is the latter.

How much adult support is needed at home?

A school day may consist of an online class meeting in real time and learning activities at family’s own time. The parent is expected to supervise their child in participating in the learning sessions during the week, which consists of:

  • 15- to 20-min. online class meetings per subject, 3-4x a week

  • a one-on-one session with teacher to learn more about the lesson or to undergo an end-of-week performance assessment

  • 15- to 30-min. individual tasks per subject everyday

After a month, your child will have learned the class routines and is expected to demonstrate some independence in doing their school work.

Oh, no! Our WiFi connection is very slow. What to do?

Don’t worry! Students who have slow Internet connection at home and, thus, cannot join online class meetings may download video lessons, have one-on-one video calls with teacher, and/or pick up learning packets from school or have them delivered home.

What support do you offer to further help parents?

We will provide tech support so students can participate in YSP’s online learning. More importantly, weekly consultations with teachers (through texts/ calls/ emails) may be scheduled for sharing feedback regarding your child’s learning at home.

What if we don’t enroll in preschool for one year?

The first five years of a child’s life are the critical years. During this period, the child’s capacity for learning is at its peak. If your child is a Kinder student, s/he will be delayed for one school year. If your child is a Senior Nursery student, s/he will miss experiences in joining classroom routines that develop the ability to speak and listen, as well as learning activities that develop thinking skills and creativity. Math and Reading are both introduced during these years too.

That being said, your child may need after-school tutorials next school year to catch-up.
